Workshop description




BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP (EUR185-EUR195)

 

This workshop is suitable for participants with non, little or some experience about photography as well as for amateurs, budding photographers who wish to expand their knowledge. The workshop provides approximately 18 hours of explanations and discussion about the digital/film camera and its operations.

This comprehensive workshop is conducted by means of interactive discussion, slide presentation and live demonstration. Time permitting, participants will also get to see some basic Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom actions. Ideally you should have a film or digital camera. A compact digital or bridge camera is not very suitable for this workshop. Available for use are 2 film SLR cameras during the workshop which need to be reserved in advance.

Among the topics covered are :

  • An overview to better understand the camera and its operations.
  • Differences between film and digital cameras.
  • Lenses and availability of options.
  • Camera buttons, dials and main menus.
  • The relationship between ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
  • Working with the camera in its full manual mode to other semi-auto functions.
  • Understanding metering and controlling exposure.
  • Use of exposure controls in creativity..
  • White Balance.
  • Digital file formats and resolution
  • Basic creative image composition.
Workshop notes and refreshments are included in the workshop fee.  Light lunch is included for weekend workshops.



PRACTICAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP (EUR170)


This workshop is suitable for participants who have completed the Basic Photography Workshop or already have some basic knowledge about photography. Ideally you should be able to work with your camera in the manual mode. The workshop offers 5 sessions (approximately 3 hours each session) of discussion about other shooting techniques and practical exercises with outdoor shooting. Both film and digital SLR cameras are suitable for this workshop.
The workshop is held twice a week over 2 and a half weeks. One on a weekday evening and the other on a Saturday afternoon for outdoor shooting. The second Saturday session is in the evening for night photography.
Among the topics covered are :

 

  • Practical and better understanding about exposures and how to confront them in real life situations.
  • Field composition techniques.
  • Effective techniques to add more “life” to your images.
  • Working with available and challenging light conditions.
  • Use of external or built in flash units as fill-lighting.
  • Night photography techniques.
  • Group sharing and discussion of selected images.



 

STUDIO PORTRAITURE WORKSHOP (EUR160)


This is a 1 day workshop. The workshop is suitable for participants with a reasonable knowledge about photography and wish to get the most out of shooting portraits. We will cover some basic portrait composition techniques, studio strobe flash for lighting your subject. This workshop is primarily based on using studio lighting. Equipment needed – Ideally a digital SLR so you can view your results right away, a laptop with a image editing software preinstalled (eg – Adobe Bridge, Adobe Lightroom or any image editing software). Images can be uploaded and viewed live for further discussion during the workshop. For film camera users, a digital SLR is available if you wish to shoot digitally during the workshop
Among the topics covered are :

 

  • Understanding of lighting techniques to create contrast
  • Use of studio strobe flash lighting to light the model.
  • Being in charge and directing the model.
  • Posing ideas and techniques.
  • Effective cropping of images for stronger composition.



 

ADOBE LIGHTROOM WORKSHOP – CREATING A PERSONAL DIGITAL WORKFLOW AND POST-PROCESSING (EUR160)


This is a one day workshop. Photographers will be introduced to Adobe’s Lightroom software. This workshop is suitable for those who are familiar with digital files (JPG, TIF, RAW) and comfortable working with your personal computer. We will be creating a optimal workflow to manage our images and post-processing digital files to produce an optimal print
Among the topics covered are :

 

  • An overview and discussion of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom software version 2
  • Making the most out of RAW format images.
  • Tailor make a personal and effective workflow.
  • Integration of Lightroom into your digital workflow.
  • Managing your digital images with the software.
  • Creative post processing of your images.
  • Colour management:.
  • Backing-up of your files options.
  • Creating a slide show with music.
  • Building a personal website.



To join “ADOBE LIGHTROOM WORKSHOP” you will need to come with the following :

* Several JPG, TIF and RAW files on CD or USB
* A laptop. System requirements are Windows XP, Vista or Mac, minimum 1GB RAM (2GB is better) with a reasonable amount of free memory on your hard drive, Adobe Lightroom installed. If you do not have Adobe Lightroom, you can download a free 30 day trial version from adobe.com.

CREATIF TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP (EUR155)
Travel and Photography go hand in hand. Nothing can be more frustrating than being at the right place, right time but getting the shot all wrong!

This workshop is specifically designed to help digital SLR photographers get the most out of their travel photography. Not just a snapshot. The goal is to create a personal photographic image.

The workshop is suitable for digital and film SLR users and to a certain extent, bridge camera users. Compact cameras are not suitable for this workshop.

While this is a non-technical workshop, to get the most out of this workshop, participants should have a basic understanding about exposure control, ability to use their cameras in manual or semi-automatic modes.


Creatif Travel Photography Workshop is a full day workshop and among the topics discussed are :

  • Travel and Packing tips
  • Equipment care, maintenance and dealing with emergencies
     
  • Capturing different types of travel images (people, sunrise, sunsets, landscapes, etc)
